Congrats, Rukmi and Vaib!

Zack and I had a great time at Rukmi & Vaib’s wedding! They were married at the Marriott Evergreen Resort in Stone Mountain Park. Come along for a pretty big blog post!
These are of the henna party two days before.

Beautiful tapestry serving as the backdrop for the party.

Henna application in progress. The people who apply this are truly artists! It’s really amazing!

Having fun!

Here we are on the wedding day. The attire is really something to see in person! Beauty everywhere!

It was a really amazing day for weather. It couldn’t be more perfect.

Sari time!

Vaib was having fun from start to finish.

Isn’t that amazing?

I love the hands everywhere connecting and leading.

You can see that again!

Getting ready for the meeting of the families. The barat is really fun and what I like to call “loosely controlled chaos”. They are noisy, extremely energetic and full of photo opportunities.

The ceremony has begun. We wait for Rukmi to come down the aisle to meet her Vaib.

Rukmi’s mom is overtaken with emotion.

Vaib is waiting for the cloth to drop so he and Rukmi can be united.

Rukmi’s sister beaming with pride and happiness.

This part is beyond fun! No shoes are allowed up where the service takes place, so it’s tradition that the groom’s shoes are stolen, and he must negotiate getting them back for a fee.

Vaib tries to sneak one of the shoes back. Not so fast!

Someone secures the other shoe. Suddenly this gets twice as expensive for Vaib!

Rukmi’s sister is one tough negotiator. She just would not let up!

The deal is struck, the money is divided up amongst family members.

It comes time to leave, and Rukmi’s parents really feel the gravity of the wedding day.

Isn’t she amazing?

Vaib has changed and is ready to party!

A little surprise. Vaib sings Rukmi a song.

Party time!

We always wait for the Panjabi MC/Jay-Z beat to come on and light things up. It NEVER disappoints.
Congratulations, Rukmi and Vaib!
