Congrats, David and Melissa!

In February, we got to go on a big bird on out to San Francisco to shoot David and Melissa’s wedding. They brought both myself and Zack out to do the job, but unfortunately, as soon as we hit the ground, Zack started getting calls that his dad was not likely going to make it through the weekend. He had to fly back immediately.
Clients will sometimes ask what would happen in a case like this. The fact is that we are so well networked with amazing photographers all over the country, that there is always someone talented ready to step up and handle the task. I’ve done it for others, and on this occasion, amazing photographer (and great friend) Cliff Brunk stepped in and helped me knock it out of the park. While it was heart wrenching at the time to think that Zack might not see his dad in time, it was also a great relief knowing the Melissa and David were so well covered on such short notice.
On a side note, there was also time for us to sit and chat with three extraordinary photographers: Gene Higa, Ann Hamilton and Jose Villa. It was great to just sit around and talk with photographers whose work I admire. I’m in my cave far too much!
Melissa and David’s wedding was a major hit! What wonderful people and beautiful venue, the Kohl Mansion in Burlingame. It rained pretty hard all day and night, but with a venue like this, it doesn’t really matter! Is it just me, or does the top of the doorway in the shot above look like an angry clown? Once I saw that, I had to do something with it. Check out their wedding preview here!
