This post comes from my trip to Nigeria to photograph the Igba Nkwu Nwanyi and Catholic cereomony of Nina & Efiom. I think Nina’s grandmother’s smile is permanent and infectious. We visited her on our first trip to Dikenafai to prep the house for the traditional ceremony. She was just beaming at the sight of [...]

Zack and I had a great time at Rukmi & Vaib’s wedding! They were married at the Marriott Evergreen Resort in Stone Mountain Park. Come along for a pretty big blog post! These are of the henna party two days before. Beautiful tapestry serving as the backdrop for the party. Henna application in progress. [...]

We just shot Marla and Brian’s wedding out at Serenbe. It’s our second time out there. The place is unbelievable. Simply a gorgeous property with literally way too many options for photos. Here is one of lovely Marla after the ceremony. We’ll get more images online soon, but for now, enjoy this!

Meet Efiom. Efiom Married Nina twice! Once in the village of Dikenafai and once in Calabar. This portrait was made after their Igba Nkwu ceremony at Nina’s parents’ place in Dikenafai. Most of what I’ve photographed in Nigeria has been of the Igbo tribe, which Nina is a part of. Efiom is Efik. His attire [...]

What do you get when you cross Jay-Z with Panjabi MC and drop it at a South Asian wedding reception? You get a reception that instantaneously explodes like no other. It’s completely amazing. Every time. And last Saturday (above, from Rukmi and Vaib’s wedding) was no different. Here is another one from Sapna and Guido’s wedding [...]

Sarah and Zach were married at St. Williams on St. Simons Island, and their reception was at the gorgeous Crane Cottage at Jekyll Island Club Hotel. We LOVE shooting here. It is definitely one of my favorite places in Georgia to shoot. Poor Zack was in Dubai teaching lighting, so I subbed him out with [...]

Nigeria is a place where true apprenticeship is still appreciated. At least from what I saw, one of the noblest careers there is to be a quality tailor. I tagged along to all kinds of tailor and seamstress and clothing design shops while I was there, and there were always young apprenticed workers soaking in [...]

In February, we got to go on a big bird on out to San Francisco to shoot David and Melissa’s wedding. They brought both myself and Zack out to do the job, but unfortunately, as soon as we hit the ground, Zack started getting calls that his dad was not likely going to make it [...]
