Goodbye Polaroid, Hello Fuji!

johnanna polaroid Goodbye Polaroid, Hello Fuji! Atlanta Wedding Photographers

I haven’t shot with any instant film since using it for 4×5 work years ago.  Well, Polaroid has closed up shop as far as films are concerned, but Fuji has picked up the ball and run with it.  I had no idea they did!

I was at the WPPI trade show watching the amazing Jose Villa speak at the Fuji booth, standing right behind (and waiting to say hi to) the amazing Jon Canlas, and a Fuji rep started around the audience handing out tickets for a drawing.  Well, my ticket was drawn first, and I won three pro packs of Fuji film.  They drew a few more names, and while I was talking to Jon, the winner of the Fuji Instax 200 camera with some extra film came up to me and asked if I shot film.  Well, not all that much.  A roll here and there, but not frequently.  She asked if she could trade the film for the camera she won.  Hells yes!

I was tempted to use it in Vegas, but I had actually brought my old folding Zeiss Super Ikonta B (120 6×6) with me, so I shot a roll of ancient chrome film through that.  I bought the Zeiss a few years ago to basically be a really compact 120 size point and shoot I can take on trips and stuff.  It is thoroughly enjoyable to shoot.  At any rate, when I got home, I cracked open the new camera and had some fun with it.  The kids are of the age that they basically had never seen a print pop out of the camera, so it was interesting to watch their reaction to the image coming up on the print before their eyes.  So cool!  Ha.

Now I have to buy more film, but I’m looking forward to shooting more fun stuff with this camera.
