Planning for the Unexpected
A little planning goes a long way as seen by Zack’s shot here. Knowing your gear inside and out frees you to plan for the unexpected. Having the appropriate gear can make the difference between great image and an amazing one. Going into a shot like this, we have no idea what is really going to happen. People could throw too early, the walk could be overcrowded, etc, but by planning in advance and setting up a remote light to get the perfect balance between frozen action and the motion of the moment, the photographer can get a shot that is so much better than just shooting it with on camera flash. The direction the light is coming from plays a huge role in the success of this shot.
